Philippa Corset Back Maxi Dress - Burgundy Metallic
The front of the Philippa is restrained. The back has a cut-out and a corset tie in it, which is where the dress spends all of its budget. The neckline is a v held by straps that do not adjust, so the fit at the top is fixed. Behind, the cut-out opens and draws shut on a corset tie, above a zip that fastens with a hook and eye clasp. Below the waist the skirt is a-line and finishes in a ruffle hemline. A decorative velvet floral design runs across the burgundy, shot through with metallic thread. The dress is lined. A corset tie at the back is a two-person job or a patient one, so allow for it. It also rules out anything worn over the top, and rules out a necklace. Hair up, a plain heel, small earrings. Cocktail hour in winter, when burgundy and metallic thread stop being a lot and start being the point.
